Tuesday 11th February
Today it became clear why this is called EnduroIndia. We ended up
doing a bout 350k of riding...should have been 300 but we took a few
wrong turnings.
i ended up riding up the road to wher we're staying in the dark, and
discovered that indian drivers don'tl like using their lights, so was
freque nly confronted by a large truck coming towards me with not even
so much as a side light. Scary stuff, but probably not any more scary
than riding up the middle of two lanes of equally large trucks, all of
which were either going to or coming from an earthworks. and the
earth is red, so everything becomes covered in a red film, which takes
a shower, and several babywipes to get off your skin.

oday what struck me particularly ws the people wasking
everywhere...there are few cars on the road, lots of Hero Honda
motorbikes and thousands of buses, but the numbr of people you see
walking , loads of them in the middle of nowhere. and you can't help
but wonder where they are all going.
Unfortunately y camera ran out of juice this morning...actually
thought it had been vibrated to death in my tank bag, but not so -
which means i have no pics, but now that it's working again, I will
take more tomorrow.
Th e Royal Enfield is a mighty workhorse...it rides through monsoons,
dus storms, 100 degree heat and still keeps going...so hope I can too!
